Ways to conceive the gender of baby you want.
Most people believe it is out of their hands to determine the gender of the baby they want. I have seen couples who have had the same-sex 3 to 4 times and are not too happy with this, they give up after few tries. But now, science is saying otherwise. You can as well determine whether you want a baby boy or a baby girl, and have what you want or increase your chances. How is this then possible? How can you increase your chances of conceiving the particular gender you want.
There are two methods which have been known to help conceive your desired gender; we have the natural methods and the High Tech method.
Now, let’s take a look at the natural methods. The sperm of a man has both X and Y chromosomes while the egg of the woman carries two X chromosomes. For a woman to conceive a male child, the Y chromosome of the man must fertilize the X chromosome of the woman and to conceive a female child it requires the X chromosome of the man. The Y chromosome is fast, active but dies quickly while, the X chromosome is less active but lives longer. Therefore, the X chromosome remains even when the Y is dead. A woman is more likely to conceive when she ovulates because it is at this period she releases her egg. To stand a very high chance of conceiving a male child, health experts have advised couples to have sexual intercourse closest to the time the woman ovulates (releases an egg) or better still, on the day she ovulates or a day after. The egg the woman releases stays for 24 to 48 hours. This gives the very active Y chromosome which swims faster, a very good opportunity to fertilize the egg before the female X chromosome does. On the other hand, to stand a chance of conceiving a girl, couples have been advised to have sexual intercourse about 2 to 3 days before the woman ovulates, this gives the Less active, long-lived X chromosome a chance to fertilize the egg while the short-lived Y chromosome dies. This method was developed by Dr. Landrum Shettle. It is to be noted however that this method is not 100% effective but it has been reported to be at least effective 75% of the time so there’s no harm in trying!
Although some other natural methods such as sexual position and diets have also been discovered, none of them has recorded much success as the Shettle method.
The High Tech has been found to be more viable and effective. One of such techniques is the Microsort. According to the Genetic and IVF institute, MicroSort is a scientifically proven preconception process that improves the chances that the baby you conceive will be of the desired gender. It involves separating or sorting the X and Y chromosome of the sperm. Once the sperm are divided, the desired specimens are inserted back into the woman through artificial means, such as in vitro fertilization. Also, the Institute says that Microsort has been 93% effective for girls and 82% effective for boys. But I guess the disadvantages of this method would be it’s cost and accessibility especially in developing and under developed nations.
Whichever method you prefer to go for, i believe it’s something worth trying out especially if you have a desire.
